I started 2019 with the hefty goal of finishing 50 books by the end of the year. While, I didn’t make it to 50, I did read 42 which is the highest number of books I’ve ever read in a year. So, overall I’m calling 2019 a huge success even though I didn’t quite make my goal.
Thanks to these books I had countless adventures through hundreds of different lands, oceans, and even planets. I became an orange thief, a Shadow Hunter, a player of dangerous games, a spy, a magician, fell in love and had my heart broken countless times. Most of all I came away with a slightly new take on people, on human nature, and on life in general.
Personally I am a huge fan of fantasy fiction and have a passion for writing it in my free time as well. So, you’ll see that the majority of the books I read last year were in that genre. This year, I plan to spread out my genres a bit more but we’ll see what happens!
I have always loved reading, but this book-packed past year has made me love it even more! The biggest thing it taught me was where to look for really good books. I found Good Reads, which is jam-packed with reviews on just about every book ever written. The Goodreads app makes it easy to keep track of what you’re reading, what you want to read and when you read what. If you haven’t yet, download their app on your phone. 🙂
Another thing I learned this year was that once I find an author I like, I have to at least attempt to read every single book they’ve ever written! You’ll notice that my heaviest reading months were ones where I found a new author that I loved, or new series to obsess over. 🙂
